The Celebration of Life took place on June 10, 2023

Barry (Wink) Andrew Dahlberg Jr.

BARRY ANDREW DAHLBERG, JR. of Pecatonica, IL, former Manager of Commercial Provisioning for Hamilton Sundstrand, passed away January 16, 2023 at Serenity Hospice in Oregon, IL. During Mr. Dahlberg’s thirty-seven-year career he worked with large commercial customers in the airline and manufacturing sectors, earning recognition from Boeing and several major airlines before retiring in 2015 as the Manager of Aftermarket Programs.

Barry was born June 6th,1955 in Vallejo, CA to Barry Sr. and Evelyn (Trojanek) Dahlberg. He attended Hononegah High School, graduating in 1974.  He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Woodworking in 1978.

Barry and Wendy White were married in June 1984. They purchased a seventeen-acre farm near Pecatonica and immediately began improving the home and property, planting over 3,000 trees through a state conservation program, expanding habitat for bluebirds and other wildlife and eventually earning a designation as a certified tree farm. An avid canoeist, hiker, traveler, mushroom grower and chef, Barry was also active as a leader in the Pecatonica Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts, sharing his knowledge and love of the outdoors with local youth. He and son Erick traveled with the troop to Philmont Scout Ranch, Isle Royale, and on many other scouting adventures.

A skilled and passionate woodworker, he had a woodworking shop and built many beautiful pieces of furniture.  Barry enthusiastically tackled home remodeling projects, most recently working alongside his daughter Andrea to update her new home. And while his interests were wide and varied, those who knew him knew his conversations usually returned to his greatest loves-- his family and his farm.

Barry is survived by his wife Wendy, children Erick and Andrea, beloved dog Ellery, his father, Barry Sr., brothers Robert and Andrew, sister Mia Swatkowski, extended family and many special friends.

Andrea scanned and added over 2000 photos of Barry, family, friends, and life on the property.

(Thank you for understanding that they are not in chronological order at this time and that they may not ever get to that point. A girl only has so much time in her day.)

Wendy and Andrea collaborated on a playlist of songs that Barry enjoyed and songs that reminded us of him. Enjoy it on Spotify here or search for "Wink Dahlberg Memorial" on Spotify playlists. Enjoy.

Traveling across the US with his brother, Bob.

Late teens, early 20s Barry loved an adventure

At Northern Illinois University, Barry got his minor in woodworking.

We still have a lot of the pieces at the house in Pecatonica.

Barry was never afraid of hard work.

Or getting other people involved with said hard work.

Erick came first, 1987.
